Ford ESCORT ALAN MANN 68 EDITION

An officially licensed Ford continuation, built with Alan Mann Racing and limited to 24 examples worldwide.

A legend re-born

A LEGACY CONTINUED

The Ford Escort Alan Mann 68 Edition by Boreham Motorworks is a limited continuation of the 1968 works Escort: officially licensed by Ford Motor Company, developed with Alan Mann Racing, and built for historic competition.

BORN FROM A HISTORY OF MOTORSPORT SUCCESS

Born from the geometry, philosophy and purpose of XOO 349F, the championship-winning Alan Mann Racing Escort, the 68 Edition continues a story shaped by Ford, Alan Mann Racing and one of the most important touring cars of its era.

Only 24 examples will be built worldwide.

CRAFTED TO RACE

The Alan Mann 68 Edition is engineered exclusively for the circuit – a period-correct Group 5 competition car built without the compromises of road homologation.

The 68 Edition preserves the visual language of the original works Escort: its compact proportions, wheel arch treatment, period-correct trim, switchgear and Alan Mann Racing livery.

Every surface has been referenced against historic photography, original data and physical inspection of XOO 349F.The design remains true to its period form, but the underlying construction is executed with modern accuracy. Bespoke jigs and fixtures support consistent fit, alignment and repeatability across the 24-car series.

It is visually faithful to the car that raced in period, delivered with engineering discipline the era could never offer.

Every Alan Mann 68 Edition is the result of a specialist build process led by Boreham Motorworks and Alan Mann Racing.

The bodyshells are fabricated using precision jigs and fixtures developed from laser-scan data captured from XOO 349F. This ensures dimensional accuracy, structural consistency and repeatability across every continuation chassis.

Final assembly and dynamic setup are completed by Alan Mann Racing in Chobham, Surrey, close to the team’s original Byfleet base where the works Escorts were prepared in period.

At the heart of the Alan Mann 68 Edition is a 1.8-litre Ford Twin Cam, paired with twin Weber 45DCOE carburettors and tuned to produce 205PS.

This period-correct configuration delivers crisp throttle response, a linear power band and the unmistakable mechanical tone of historic touring car competition.

Refined through decades of motorsport development and re-engineered to modern standards, the Twin Cam offers the blend of response, durability and character that defines the 68 Edition.

The original Alan Mann Racing Escorts were built to FIA Group 5 regulations, giving the team freedom to refine chassis and suspension design.

In 1968, having worked alongside Shelby delivering Ford victory on the 1966 GT40 Le Mans programme, Alan Mann Racing integrated key elements of GT40 suspension into the Escort programme. The Alan Mann 68 Edition continues that approach with GT40-derived front suspension, including a sliding-joint MacPherson strut layout and KONI 2-way adjustable coil-over dampers.

At the rear, a rigid axle with Watts linkage, longitudinal links, torsion bars and vertical dampers provides strong rear-end control and clear communication under load.

The braking system is tailored for historic racing performance: solid discs front and rear, period-correct hardware and progressive mechanical response.

At the front, 254mm x 10mm solid discs are paired with P16 callipers. At the rear, 245mm x 10mm solid discs use Girling NR Series callipers with a parking brake.

The wheels are period-correct Electron magnesium-style designs, now produced in flow-formed aluminium. Front wheels measure 13 x 8 inches with 475/1000 x 13 tyres; rear wheels measure 13 x 9 inches with 475/1150 x 13 tyres.

To recreate the Escort Mk1’s original form with accuracy, the Alan Mann 68 Edition programme began with a full 3D laser scan of XOO 349F.

That data was translated into a complete CAD model, allowing each new shell to be engineered with precise dimensional accuracy. The process corrects for the minor inconsistencies of period production while preserving the character, proportions and visual identity of the original works car.

Every structural element, mounting point and suspension component is designed with modern precision to reflect the intent of the 1968 car.

This is engineering that respects history, but delivers with the clarity and repeatability of a contemporary Boreham Motorworks programme.

Two configurations. One continuation.
